EDGEWATER - Bernard D. West, 72, of Alice Street, a long haul truck driver, died Sunday at Ocean View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Smyrna Beach.
Mr. West, an Air Force veteran, was born in Smithtown, W.Va., and moved to this area in 1983 from Connecticut. He also was a mechanic and foreman for Westinghouse in West Virginia, an engine mechanic at Pratt-Whitney in Connecticut, and worked for Schatt Boats in Oak Hill, Sea Ray Boats in Palm Coast and Spicer's and Sandy's marines in Connecticut and The Ormond Marina. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie; three sons, Gary West, Greensburg, Pa., Donald Spencer, Port Orange, and David Spencer, Daytona Beach; and a daughter, Terri Spencer, Palm Coast. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Gift of Remembrance Headquarters, 1101 N. Lake Destiny Road, Suite 415, Maitland, FL 32751-7105. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.
