Alice Irene Alexander, 94, of Great Falls, Mont., passed away of respiratory failure on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at a local nursing home.

Alice was born Nov. 16, 1917, to Bryon and Eva (Carlson) Allshouse in Simpson, Neb.


She married Wardell A. Alexander in Butte, Neb., on Oct. 21, 1936. He passed away in June 1977.

She worked alongside her husband ranching and taking care of their five children and cooking for ranch hands. In the late 1960s, they moved to Douglas.

In 1998, Alice moved to Great Falls, where she resided until her death.

Alice is survived by her children, Inez (Bob) Schrader of Wyoming, Myrna (Laverne) Schrader, Bud (Gerri) Alexander of Wyoming and Linda (Pat) Mitchell of Arizona; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband Wardell, infant daughter Nila Lee, daughter Mardell Fay and three grandchildren.

At her request no services are planned. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Douglas Cemetery.
