E. Christyne Donahue, 82, of Derry Township, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 18, 1929, in Camden, NJ, to parents Joseph and Caroline McCaughey.
She graduated from Frankford High School in Philadelphia, and went on to become a proud and loving mother of seven children and grandmother of many. An avid world traveler and fan of culture and the arts, Christyne was a member of the Eastern Star, the Forest Gems Bowling League; a patron of the Hershey Symphony and Hershey Theatre, a lover of the Hershey Bears, an active member of the Derry Presbyterian Seniors and Shepherd Groups, and enjoyed bowling, sewing, needlepoint and cross-stitching. Christyne accompanied her husband on their yearly WWII Naval Veteran Reunions, traveling the globe, and spending time with her family. Christyne will be dearly missed by her many friends, family, and loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, Charles William Donahue, Sr.; six children, Charles W. Donahue, Jr. (wife Lynn) of Las Vegas, NV, Denise Johnston (husband Mike) of Haddon Heights, NJ, Hena Markley of State College, PA, Michael P. Donahue (wife Wendy) of Lawrenceville, NJ, Margaret L. Donahue (husband Scott Brandeburg) of Hershey, PA, and Christine M. Wolfe (husband Wilson) of Harrisburg, PA; her 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Christyne was preceded in death by a son, Edwin A. Donahue; a brother, Joseph McCaughey; and a sister, Margaret Diamond.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 11 a.m., in the Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 East Derry Road, Hershey, PA 17033, with The Rev. Dr. Richard L. Houtz and The Rev. Dr. Marie L. Buffaloe, her pastors, officiating. Inurnment will be in Derry Presbyterian Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 East Derry Road, Hershey, PA 17033 or to Grane Hospice, 4 Lemoyne Drive, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
