Son of Charles Wesley and Julia Florence Johnson Gordon. James first marriage was to :
Elsie Rogers, 6 children were born to that marriage. His second wife, Pet Boatwright, they had only one child to live as others were still born. He last resided in Marion, SC.

Obituary:
MARION - James R. Gordon, 76, died in a local hospital Sunday after a short illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Smith Brothers Funeral Home by the Rev. Lewis McCormick. Burial will be in Devotion Gardens.

Mr. Gordon was born in Marion County, a son of the late Charles Wesley and Julia Johnson Gordon. He was a retired carpenter and veteran of WW I.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pet Boatwright Gordon of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Addie) Hardee of Gresham; a step-daughter, Mrs. L. H. (Peggy) Sawyer of the Zion community near Mullins; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie G. Fowler of Mullins and Mrs. Molly G. Rogers of Charleston; and 5 grandchildren.
