Abial married James H. Crane on March 23rd, 1843in New York. They were the parents of Mary, Watson, and Julia.

Jan 16, 1908 - Pocahontas County Sun - Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Crane went to Humboldt, Monday to attend the funeral of Mr. Crane's mother who died at that place at the ripe old age of 83 years. Mr. Crane expects to take her to their old home at Maquoketa for burial.

Jan 16, 1908 - Humboldt Independent - Abial Reed was born March 20th, 1825, at Moriah, N.Y., and died of pneumonia at Humboldt, Iowa, January 12, 1908, at the age of 82 years, l month, and 22 days. She was married to James H. Crane March 23rd, 1843.

To this union three children were born, Mary Josephine, now Mrs. Oliver Beckwith, Watson, of Laurens, Iowa, Julia, nee Mrs. Arthur Wyatt, who died April 2nd, 1900. In 1854, she moved with her husband to Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa. Her husband died May 23, 1888.

Since 1889 she has made her home with her daughter Mrs. Beckwith who, with the son Watson and several grandchildren remain to mourn her loss. She united with the Congregational church at an early age and has since been a consistent member of that church. Services were conducted by Rev. H.D. Herr at the residence of Mr. Beckwith Monday p.m. of this week and the remains were conveyed by train to Maquoketa for burial, leaving Monday afternoon by way of the C.&N.W. Rwy. accompanied by her son, Watson. Mrs. Crane was highly regarded by all her many acquaintances made here in Humboldt.
