Mary M. Silverest Bucher, 89, a former resident of Eel River Township and of Fort Wayne, died at 9:00 a. m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne following an extended illness.
Mrs. Bucher was born on October 15, 1919 in Montpelier, a daughter of Charles D. and Inas (Spaulding) Wilson, and retired as a clerk assistant from Byron Health Center in Fort Wayne in 1987.
In 1937, she was united in marriage to Curtis A. Silverest. He preceded her in death in 1967. On November 8, 1969 she was married to Gerald L. Bucher. Mr. Bucher preceded her in death on July 26, 2008.
She was a member of the Ari Church of God, east of Churubusco.
The surviving relatives include her children Marsha (Jerry) Austermann of Lake Orion, Mich., Carolyn Jo Silverest of Fort Wayne, Charles K. [Stella] Silverest of Forsyth, Mo., Richard C. [Shelba] Silverest of Coats, N. C., Thomas C. [Joyce] Silverest of Howell, Mich., Curtis R. Silverest of Auburn, Roger [Devonna L.] Bucher of Fort Wayne, Gary [Sue] Bucher of Auburn, and Dennis [Kim] Bucher of Churubusco; 37 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a son Jack L. Silverest; three daughters Ina May Silverest, Geraldine M. Lyons, and Gloria Galante; two sisters Ruth Meadows and Frances Payter; and three brothers Arthur W. Wilson, Cryil A. Wilson, and Henry M. Wilson.
Funeral services were held August 15, 2009, at the Silver Creek Church of God near Silver Lake with Pastor Carroll McNutt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
