Verna L. Bingham, 102, of Rockford, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, in Wesley Willows Health Care Center. Born Jan, 17, 1895, in Irwin, Mo., daughter of William Franklin and Ida Lee Singleton Tabler. Lived 80 years in Rockford coming from Missouri. Married Guy A. Bingham on June 19, 1913, in Kansas City, Mo.; he died Sept. 3, 1950. Former member of Second Congregational Church. Choir mother at First Presbyterian Church. Member of the Audobon Society and Cousteau Society. Board member of Rock River Valley Council of Girl Scouts. She was very involved in conservation, nature and bird watching and was a supporter of Noah's Ark of Rockford. Survivors include two daughters, Verna T. (John) Kinley of Rockford and Katherine C. Kline of Arvada, Colo.; four grandchildren, Lynnet (James) Hayes of Loveland, Colo., Susan Kline of Philomath, Ore., Sara (W. David) Werckle of Stillman Valley and Jeffrey F. (Suzanne) Zircher of Bartonville; seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Also predeceased by daughter, Leda in infancy, and brother, Lucien.
Graveside service at 1 p.m., Friday, April 18, in Wildwood Burial Park, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. in Anderson Chapel of the Personal Care Unit at Wesley Willows Health Care Center. The Rev. R. Haines Moffat, associate pastor of Second Congregational Church, will officiate. No visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Noah's Ark of Rockford.
