George Orr, 82, of Shelbina, well known Shelby county retired farmer, passed away Wednesday evening of last week at his home following an illness of several years.
Mr. Orr was born in Shelby county on June 19, 1872, and was married to Miss Lottie Surber of Clarence who preceded him. They reared a foster son, Everett Orr, of Norwalk, Calif. On March 4, 1931 he was married to Miss Hallie Noel who survives with his three brothers, Harry Orr of Salisbury, Ewing Orr of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Charles Orr of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Emma Kiergan of St. Louis and other relatives.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Last rites were held at 10:30 Saturday morning from the Hayes funeral home at Shelbina with the Rev. Glen Irons officiating. Interment was made in the Shelbina cemetery.
Among those attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Vasser, Harry Orr and Mr. and Mrs. Hollie Orr all of Salisbury, Mr. and Mrs. Churchill Keen of Trenton, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Orr of Santa Rosa, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Ewing Orr, Harold and Herbert Orr of Fort Madison, Iowa, Miss Mary Kiergan of University City, Everett Topping of Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Griswold of Hannibal; Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Robuck, Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Noel, Mrs. J. C. Noel, Irene Orr and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shale all of Clarence.

RETIRED SHELBY FARMER DIES – Shelbina, Mo. – George Orr, age 82, a widely known retired farmer, died Wednesday evening at his home here following a six-year period of being bedfast. He was born June 19, 1872 in Shelby County. He was first married to Lottie Surber of Clarence who preceded him in death a number of years ago. The couple had no children of their own but reared a foster son, Everett Orr, who lives in Norwalk, Calif. On March 4, 1931 he was married to Miss Hallie Noel who survives as do three brothers, Harry of Salisbury; Ewing of Fort Madison, Iowa and Charles, in California; one sister, Mrs. Emma Kiergan of St. Louis and nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Methodist Church. The body was taken to the Hayes funeral Home here where it will remain until time for services which have been tentatively set for Friday evening.
