He was a longtime resident of the former Colonial Manor at New Philadelphia and throughout the years used his mischievous smile and surprising humor to gain numerous friendships from the staff and residents alike. He enjoyed his work at the Starlight School and Workshop and upon relocating to Park Village he continued to amass more friendships. His favorite possessions and hobbies were working with clocks, watches and flashlights.
Leroy leaves behind his family which includes two sisters, Arlene (Jim) Sigrist of Sugarcreek and Iva Shaw of Sunburry, Ohio; and two brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Fisher of Dover and Dean (Cheryl) Fisher of New Philadelphia. Completing the family are two aunts, Wilma Kilchenmann Gopp of Florida and Mary Kilchenmann of Walnut Creek and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Fisher and a nephew, Jeffrey Shaw.
A private graveside service, led by Reverend Hugh B. Berry, will be held in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Those wishing to do so may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home's website.
