George Walter Abbott passed away May 15, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his family by his side. George was born February 1, 1939, in Ely, Nevada to Charles and Louise Hofheins Abbott.

He married Carolyn Kay Irvine November 21, 1959, in Ely, Nevada. George served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959. He retired from Kennecott Smelter after 25 years.

He loved being with his grandchildren, to travel, and loved going to Wendover. Survived by his wife; children, Keith (Kristin) Abbott, Carrie (Jon) Crawley; eight grandchildren; mother, Louise Mories; brothers, James, Melvin; sisters, Louise Corbett, and Mary Jane Miller.

The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors in the MICU at Veterans Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 18, at 1:30pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., with a viewing from 12:30-1:30pm prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Published in Deseret News on May 16, 2004
