Kezia Coghill was born the 7th of 8 children to Thomas Coleman (1740 Virginia-Ap 1781 Virginia) and Millicent Winn (b. 1746-Caroline County, Virginia; d. Nov 1821 Caroline City, Virginia). In Virginia she married William Coghill (1754-1826). [This was William's second marriage. His first was to Barbara Goodwin b. 18 Nov 1774 Louisa VA, d. 15 Mar 1794 VA; they had one son: William Goodwin.] They had only one child, Benjamin, who lived to adulthood. On Ancestry.com is found a letter that Kezia wrote to her sisters Mary and Caroline, both married (and both with last name Sutton) living in Scott County, Kentucky dated October 20, 1810. She talks about being separated from her sisters and how that pained her; about her mother still living; that she had only one child living (Benjamin) who was then 7 years old; and mentions that her husband "complains a little" meaning he was not entirely healthy.

After her husband died, Kezia came to live with her son and his second wife Mary Ann; upon her death she was buried in the family plot in Henderson County, Illinois.
