Rupert "Gayle" Brown, 72, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012. Funeral: 3 p.m. Saturday at Normandale Baptist Church, 2001 Chapel Creek, Fort Worth. Interment: 10 a.m. Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials: Expressions of sympathy may be made to Normandale Baptist Church building fund. Rupert "Gayle" was born Dec. 6, 1939, in Colerain, N.C. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958. During his 22 years of service, he was stationed in Texas, Alaska, England, Montana and Thailand. He retired as a master sergeant in 1980 and was then employed by General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin for 23 years. In 1963 he married Nancy Easterling of Clyde, and they celebrated their 48th anniversary this past August. They were blessed with three children and eight grandchildren. He was a 34-year member of Normandale Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and worked with the youth for many years. Gayle was a past master of River Oaks Masonic Lodge #1311 and was a recipient of the Golden Trowel Award. He also was a member of Fort Worth Scottish Rite and a past patron of Castleberry Chapter #1028, O.E.S. He served on the board of directors of Omni American Credit Union for 12 years. Gayle never met a stranger, and he loved nothing better than helping anyone in need. He was a sports enthusiast, refereeing basketball until he was 50. His two favorite things to do were playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert Willie and Lydia Lucille Brown; and his sister, Judy. Survivors: Wife, Nancy; daughters, Lydia Hindman and husband, Mark, and Nannette Riley and husband, Steve; son, Darren Brown and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Caleb, Stephen and Daniel Hindman, Rachel and Ashley Riley, and Parker, Chloe and Marshall Brown; brother, Ronnie Brown and wife, Judy; brother-in-law, John Easterling and wife, Laura, and their daughter, Aspen; and mother-in-law, Mary K. Easterling.
