Mary and Frank moved from Center to California during the Depression, where Frank eventually got a job with the railroad and settled at Turlock. Their home had a swimming pool which was very uncommon for the time. Being recently from Oklahoma and having no need for a swimming pool, the Townsleys hired a man to haul in dirt and had the pool filled in.

Sometime later, Mary and Frank moved back to Ada. Here, they were members of the local Free Will Baptist Church. In 1977, they moved to Oklahoma City to be close to their daughters Georgia and Betty.

She was preceeded in death by her parents James & Ida Bell Henry; grandmother Angeline Tanner; daughter Irene Merryman; sisters Sarah Henry, Mattie Henry, Lonie Dame, Bertha Bell Dollahon, Roxie Cheshier, & Fanny Loman; brothers Benjamin, Charles, Jim, Robert, & Mose; and two grandchildren Barbara Sue Merryman & Rocky Lee Mullins.

At her death, she was survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank; five daughters: Lorene McIlroy, Juanita Mullins, Georgia Lee Ragland, Agnes Horton, & Betty Ferguson; eight grandchildren: Billy Merryman, Betty Woodring, Jimmy Ragland, Joyce Ragland, Pamela Welch, Cynthia Acquisto, Kenneth Horton, & Bobby Ferguson; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, & friends.
