Graveside services for Alta Rhea Copeland, 71, of Lubbock, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors. Memorial services will follow at noon at W.W. Rix Chapel with the Rev. Harold Rhoads officiating.

Copeland died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center-Lakeside, formerly St. Mary Hospital.

She was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Slaton and married Haney Stallings on Dec. 16, 1947, in Lubbock. He died in 1961.

She graduated from Lubbock High School and Isbell-Powell's Beauty School. She worked at the Hemphill-Wells Beauty Shop and later owned Rhea's Beauty Booth at the Carousel of Beauty from 1970 until 1996. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include a son, Gregory Stallings of Lubbock; a daughter, Connie Hefner of Arlington; a brother, Edwin McWilliams of Austin; two sisters, Dorothy Hullum and Lila McPherson both of Lubbock; and three grandchildren.

Copeland was preceded in death by a brother, William McWilliams, in 1980.
