John Tuttle, eldest known child of William and Elizabeth Tuttle, bp. Dec. 8, 1631 at Ringstead, Northamptonshire, England. He d. Nov. 12, 1683 at New Haven, Conn.

On Nov. 8, 1653 at New Haven, Conn., John m. Catherine Lane, dau. of John and Sarah Lane, b. circa 1632 purportedly at Milford, Conn. There is no record of when Catherine died. They had the following children b. of record at New Haven:

• Hannah Tuttle, b. Nov. 2, 1655, d. Dec. 21, 1708 at New Haven; m. Nov. 7, 1672 at New Haven, Samuel Clark, who d. Feb. 22, 1729/30 at New Haven. Twelve children of the family.

• John Tuttle, Jr., b. Sept. 15, 1657, d. circa 1743; m. May 29, 1689 at New London, Conn., Mary Burroughs, dau. of John Burroughs and Hannah Culver, b. Dec. 14, 1672 at New Haven. Eleven children of the family.

• Samuel Tuttle, b. Jan. 9, 1659/60, d. July 8, 1733 at New Haven; m. 1) in June 1684 at New Haven, Sarah Newman, who d. Feb. 12, 1707/08 at New Haven; m. 2) Abigail Frost, dau. of John Frost and Mercy Payne, and wid. of John Barnes. She d. Jan. 7, 1747/8 at New Haven. Eight children of the family.

• Sarah Tuttle, b. Jan. 22, 1661/2; m. 1) Sept. 10, 1685 at New Haven, John Humiston (q.v., Humberston in VRs), m. 2) Jan 10, 1697/8 at Wallingford, Conn., Roger Tyler.

• Daniel Tuttle, b. Apr. 13, 1664, d. sirca 1700 at Milford, Conn.; m. Hannah Sanford.

• Mary Tuttle, twin of Daniel, b. Apr. 13, 1664.

• Elizabeth Tuttle, b. Nov. 19, 1666; m. Mar. 28, 1687 at Norwalk, Conn., John Reed.

• David Tuttle, b. Nov. 14, 1668; m. Nov 24, 1698 at Norwalk, Conn., Mary Reed.

• Benjamin Tuttle, bapt. July 9, 1671 at Milford, called "of New Haven", but no further record has been found that confirms that child's parents were John and Catherine (Lane) Tuttle.

Two additional children were added and linked by the original creator of this memorial, James and Susannah, for which no such record can be found they actually existed. Unfortunately, the present maintainer has to request an administrative deletion since only the original creator can delete a memorial, and he is deceased.
