Schenevus - Members of the G.A.R. and Masonic orders of this village attended the funeral of W.H> Chamberlain at his late home at Elk Creek, Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was a member of the orders. The rev. D.P. Lappeus, a retired Baptist minister of this place, officiated.

Henry Chamberlin
Henry Chamberlin one of the oldest, best known and most respected residents of Elk Creek, died Friday, November 12th, at 11:30 a.m., from a complication of diseases from which he had been a patient sufferer for over four years. The deceased was a son of the late Deigh and hannah Chamberlin and was born in milton, Saratoga county, February 5, 1835. When but five years of age the family moved to otsego county, settling upon a farm in the town of Westford more recently known as the Rinald Green farm. He was married in 1860 to Alma Perry of Elk Creek, and from that time his home was in Elk Creek. To them was born one daughter, Ada who died in 1889.
Mr. Chamberlin was a veteran of the Rebellion, being a member of the First New York Engineers. He was a charter member of Brown Post, G.A.R. of Schenevus. He was a member of the Baptist church at Schenevus; of Schenevus masonic Lodge, of the Elk Creek Grange, being for several years district deputy and was well known throughout Otsego county for the interest he took in Grange work.
Mr. Chamberlin is survived by his wife who is in poor health and by one sister, Mrs. Martha Green, of Elk Creek; also by several nephews and nieces, among them George Chmaberlin and Grank Green of Westville, Miss Jennie Green of Oneonta, Mrs. Roy Kelley of Syracuse, Mrs. Frank Spooner of Milan, Mich., and Mrs. thomas Howley of Elk Creek. the funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at his late home and was in charge of the Masons; the Granges also attending in abody. The Rev. D.P. Lappeus of Schenevus officiated with burial in the family plot in the Elk Creek Cemetery.
