Dr. Early B. Lokey, 90, of Amarillo died Thursday, February 12, 2004.
Private memorial services will be held with his son-in-law, Dr. Jerald L. Kirkpatrick, pastor of Lakewood Christian Church of Waco, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.

Dr. Lokey was born January 22, 1914, in Hattiesburg, Miss., to Early B. and Margaret McWilliams Lokey. He then enlisted in the Army Field Service Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the 96th Infantry Division, 382 Infantry Regiment as a first lieutenant on July 1, 1942. He served in the Pacific theater as a medical officer utilizing his expertise in tropical diseases obtained at Tulane. He and Marguerite Griffin were married on July 29, 1942, in Carlisle, Penn.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Flora Emma Lokey; a brother, Hugh McWilliams Lokey; and an infant son, Barton Tomas Lokey.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Brenda Kirkpatrick of Waco, Megan Lokey of Richardson, Ann Keith of Fairfax, Va., and Cathy Lokey of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Andrew, Courtney and Edward Kirkpatrick, all of Waco, and Duncan, Margaret and Glen Keith, all of Fairfax; and two sisters, Mary McCollum of Clinton, Miss., and Kathryn Henley of Jackson, Miss.

The family suggests memorials be to the Television Ministry of Polk Street United Methodist Church, Amarillo Area Foundation or to a favorite charity.
