- Roger M. Batchelder 80 yrs, a resident of Atlantic Avenue died peacefully Thursday evening at the York Hospital in York, ME with his wife at his side.
Roger was born on the family farm on December 24, 1926 a son of Willis and Ada (Hutchins) Batchelder and attended Wells Schools.
In his younger years, he worked at the family farm and then he owned and operated the Beach Acres Campground in Wells from 1964 until his retirement in 1991.
He was a longtime chairman for the Wells Sewer District for many years.
He was a member of the Ocean Lodge #142 of Wells, Scottish Rite Valley of Portland, the Kora Shriners of Lewiston and the York Country Shrine Club, M.O.A.L.S. Auto Club of Maine.
He was avid fisherman.
Roger was predeceased by his first wife Arline E. Batchelder who died in 1998, a brother Donald and a sister Hyacinth.
He is survived by his wife of five years Rosemarie (Ouellette) Batchelder of Wells, a son Marc A. Batchelder of Wells, a daughter Priscilla E. Floodman of Texas, three step- children Katherine Nelson of Kennebunk, Sean and William Dumont both of Sanford, three grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 PM Monday April 9th, 2007 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 111 Chapel Road Wells, ME with a Masonic Services at 7PM at the Chapel.
Graveside Service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday at the Ocean View Cemetery, Post Road, Wells.
