Services for J.F. Connell, 75, were held at Rose Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. R.E. Wright officiating.
Connell, a retired school teacher, and veteran of the Spanish-American War came to Eolian when he was 14. He lived there until 1900 when he moved to Ranger.
In Ranger, he worked in railway mail service before he became postmaster. He owned Connell variety store and for a time was choir director of the Baptist Church.
Survived by his wife; two daughters - Mrs. Tom Clark and Mrs. Georgia Brown; one son - J.F. Connell, Jr.; six grandchildren.
His parents were married 18 November 1875 at Dallas County, Arkansas.
