Good Man Passes On

George W. Brown Dies At Home of Daughter in Scotia

Lived Here 45 Years – Funeral Held Sunday, Rev. Alcorn Officiating

On last Friday morning, November 25th, there passed from earth, a man, whose life in this community for forty five years was marked by consistent christian integrity. George W. Brown was born in Ohio, July 2, 1851, moving to Iowa with his parents while a young lad. At the age of twenty-six he came to Valley county, Nebraska, which has been his home ever since. He was married June 30, 1883, to Miss Ellen Elizabeth McClements. Seven children came to bless this union, four of which preceded the father and mother to the better land. The remaining three daughters still live in this vicinity, Mrs. Fred Stephenson and Mrs. H.E. Scott of Arcadia, and Mrs. Elmer Duryea of Scotia. Thy were all privileged to be with him in his last sickness ministering to him tenderly to the last. Besides these children, he leaves to mourn his home going, two brothers, P.J. Brown of Arcadia, Porter of Caldwell, Idaho, and one sister, Mrs. James Lee of Arcadia. Mr. Brown was a faithful and consistent member of the Congregational church, always present at services faithfully doing his part in his Master's service.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Sunday November 29th, Rev. Alcorn officiating, and was attended by a large company of friends and relatives. His body rests today by the side of his wife who preceded him about four years ago.

He was visiting his daughter, Mrs. Duryea, at Scotia, at the time of his sickness and death.
