Rev. Daniel T. Bills, 89, of Burtchville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He was born May 10, 1921 in Ionia, the only child of the late Thomas and Helen Bills. He married Flora Decker on July 11, 1942 in Morley, Michigan. She died October 3, 2010. Rev. Bills was a retired minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ who served seven congregations in several Michigan cities for over 40 years, including three years as associate pastor of Northgate Bible Church, where he remained a member. He helped to build Sunday Schools in rural, unreached areas, for the American Sunday School union and saw many souls won to the Lord. He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone in 1985. He was the first director of the St. Clair County Council on Aging when it opened in May 1968. He volunteered with Boy Scouts of America for several years in the 50's. He enjoyed writing poetry and painting. His poems were published in 1990. He gave most of his paintings away as gifts. He is survived by four children, 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a son-in-law. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Todink; and a son-in-law, Thomas Robinson. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in Northgate Bible Church with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. His grandson, Reverend James Bills, and Reverend David Caswell will officiate.
