In 1786 in Va Sarah married John Hunter, one of four children of Charity (Loftus) and William Hunter. They lived in Va. and had known children;

In 1818 John and 2 of his sons received land grants in KY possibly for service in the War of 1812. The family traveled from Cumberland Co Va, through the Cumberland Gap to Cumberland Co Ky. They settled on their land grant on Judio Cr. They added acreage to the grant and started to raise tobacco. John died in 1820/21 unexpectedly. He is buried there on the farm.

Sarah continued to live on the "farm" with her daughters although the boys were placed with 'professional' men in the community, Shores with a saddle maker, and William and Andrew Jackson with doctors. Sarah and daughter Charity(who never married) ran the farm until Sarah's death. She is also buried on the farm.
