Jacob served as a Torpedoman's Mate, Third Class, U.S.S. Norman Scott (DD-690), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Glenn Dale, Prince George's County, Maryland prior to the war.

Jacob was "Killed In Action" when the Scott was hit six time by enemy fire in the Battle of Tinian during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on June 18, 1948.

The surviving family of soldiers were allowed to request what State appeared on their Tombstone. That is the case with this soldier's headstone.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bladt.
