In Loving Memory of Billy Pressley
Billy Pressley, 75, of Canton, has gone to rest with Jesus, passing away at his home on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.
Mr. Pressley was born August 20, 1936 in Jackson County, NC to the late Hobert V. Pressley and the late Nora Mae Mull Pressley. He had resided most of his life in Haywood County and retired from the Town of Canton in 2005 with 30 years of dedicated service. Mr.Pressley was also a farmer, talented builder and the former owner and operator of Pressley's Tire and Recapping. He was a member of Center Pigeon Baptist Church. Billy loved spending time outdoors - camping, fishing, and deer hunting. He could also often be found visiting his favorite destination , the WNC Farmers Market. Billy truly enjoyed life and he deeply loved his family. His grandchildren and great- grandchildren were his pride and joy and he will always be remembered as being a "Wonderful Daddy. "
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Pearline Morrow and two brothers, R.B. Pressley and Troy Pressley.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Bennett Pressley; his daughters, Kathy Lynn Pressley of Canton, Betty Pressley Moore and her husband, Johnny Moore of Lexington, SC and Phyllis Pressley Burchfield and her husband, Steve Burchfield of Canton; a son, Billy Ray Pressley and his wife, Lisa Pressley of Canton; grandchildren, Amber Moran, Molly Reece, Matthew Moore, Zachary Moore, Stephanie Webb, Holly Burchfield and Emily Pressley ; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Lukas, Thomas and Sean ; a sister, Laurine McCracken and her husband, Vaughn McCracken of Cherryville NC; a brother, Roy Pressley of Sylva and a host of many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home with the Reverend Roy Kilby and the Reverend R.G. Garland officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service. A private interment will be held.
