Obituary

James L. Higgins, former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad agent and telegraph operator at Boyds, Washington Grove, and Gaithersburg, died at his home in Boyds at 3:40 o'clock Wednesday afternoon after a long illness.

Mr. Higgins, a son of the late Montgomery P. and Sarah Jane Higgins, was born at Sir Johns Run, W. Va., and had resided at Boyds for 55 years where he was well-known and respected.

He was employed by the B&O Railroad until 22 years ago when he retired.

His wife, Mrs. Alice C. Higgins, preceded him in death. He is survived by two children, Miss Maude Higgins, at home, and Capt. Montgomery Higgins, Portsmouth, H.H.

Funeral Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the late home with services conducted by Rev. James P. Kerr. Interment Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. William B. Hilton, funeral director.
