Mrs. Augusta Bayles, age 92 years, died at midnight Monday night at her home on Horse Prairie avenue.
Mrs. Bayles was a pioneer resident of Pine township, Porter county, being the first resident of the town of Furnessville.
Her husband, John Bayles, preceded her in death several years ago. Eight children survive.
Memorial services will be held at the Flynn-Lundberg chapel in Chesterton Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Furnessville cemetery.

Mrs. Auga Bayles, age 92 years, 1 month and 5 days, passed away Tuesday, Apr 12, at 12:45 o'clock in the morning at her home in Valparaiso. She had been ill two weeks and death was due to age and heart fatigue. Augusta Ann Curtis was born in Porter township, Porter county, IN, on Mar 7, 1849, the d/o Philander and Catherine Ann Curtis. She had always made her home in Porter county. On Jan. 21, 1844, she was united in marriage to John H.G. Bayles at (__) Grove, IN. After their marriage they lived about 2 miles east of Wheeler and then moved to Portage township where they resided on a farm for 2 years. About Mar 2, 18?? Mr. & Mrs. Bayles moved to Furnessville where they lived until 1920 on their farm which is adjacent to the Bayles schoolhouse. They resided in Chesterton for one year and then moved to Valparaiso where they have resided since. Mr. & Mrs. Bayles lived happily together for 62 years. Mr. Bayles, a Civil War veteran, passed away 12 years ago. Mrs. Bayles was a member of the Christian church since childhood. People here knew her as Grandma Bayles by her friends and a true friend. She was a member of the Chesterton Eastern Stars. She died in Valparaiso, IN. Funeral was at Flynn Chapel in Chesterton. Auga died at 12:45 in the morning at her home in Valparaiso. After their marriage they lived about two miles east of Wheeler for one year and then moved to Portage township where they resided on a farm for two years. About Mar 1, 1869 they moved Furnessville where they lived until 1920 on their farm, adjacent to the Bayles schoolhouse. They resided in Chesterton for one year and then in 1921 moved to Valparaiso where they resided since. John and Auga lived together happily for 62 years. She is survived by 28 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. Also two sons preceded her in death.
