Mr. West had been in failing health for some time, but had remained active. His death was attributed to a lung hemorrhage.
A lifelong resident of the Phelps community and a farmer, Mr. West was born August 9, 1917. He was a son of the lates Frank and Ora (Bowerman) West. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Phelps Church.
Survivors include his widow, Vera, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Rita Garroute, Mt. Vernon; four sons, Gary LaRussell, Larry, Mt. Vernon and Jack and Ronnie, both of Miller; two brothers, Raymond, LaRussell route, and Harold, Joplin; six grandchildren and numerous other relatives.'
