RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT
To the Officers and Members of James Clabaugh Post, No. 4, G. A. R.
Again our ranks have been broken. Our comrade, Donald Gray, has been mustered out after a long and honorable service as citizen and soldier; he has joined the Grand Army above.
Therefore be it Resolved, That we, as a Post, extend our sympathy to the wife and family of our deceased comrade, and that a copy of these resolutions be placed on the records of the Post.
W. B. Ripley, Committee.
DONALD GRAY - AGED 86.
"The surgeon's flesh is dust, poor man,"
Auld Donnie oft has said.
"Who sent me back from the South in the war
To rest with the soldier dead?"
"You have but three months to live, my man,"
Was what he told Donald Gray;
That was more than forty years ago:
How fast the years roll away.
Many a fight have you had with death,
Our brave old Donnie Gray,
And many a time have ye beaten him off,
May you beat him again to-day.
But now from the Mighty Commander he comes.
And "Here." answers Donald Gray.
He has gone to the Greater Army at last
And a good man has left us to-day.
Many a deed of kindness
To his credit, is set, up above;
He has helped the poor and helpless,
And given the unloved - love.
He has cared for little children
With kindly and tender hand,
And now he rests from his labors
In the wonderful Better Land.
May 21, 1907--A. L. R.
Be it resolved, that the officers and members of Winnebago City Lodge No. 30, I. O. O. F., herby extend to Bros. Duncan Gray, E. J. Miller, A. LaRowe, and J. C. Bassett, their heartfelt sympathy in recent bereavements the Brothers have sustained.
Arthur Freer, N. G.Claude Babcock, Sec'y.
