Mr. Humphries was born in Prospect a son of the late William Thomas and Nancy Lula Powell Humphries. He was retired after 43 years with the Belk Dept. Store of Lake City and farmer, a lifetime member and steward of the Prospect Independent Methodist Church and attended Florence County schools.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Earl) Wise of Johnsonville and Nancy (J.F.) Reynolds of Lamar; brother, Zibeon Humphries of Lake City; sister, Fannie H. Brown of Hemingway; grandchildren, Myron Wise, Major Rick Wise, Randy Wise and Nannette Bradshaw; eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Hemingway with burial in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery.
