Betsy Duke Anderson, 79, 364 N. 300 W., Provo, died in a Provo rest home Thursday afternoon.
She was born Oct. 12, 1888, in Heber, a daughter of Robert Stone and Rachel Horrocks Duke. She married Nels Anderson on April 14, 1909, in the Salt Lake Temple. He died April 10, 1946.
Active in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mrs. Anderson had served in the Relief Society as a visiting teacher for many years and also as a work director in the Relief Society presidency. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Provo Camp 4-6.
She was educated in Heber City schools. After her marriage she made her first home in Heber, then near Jordanelle where her husband was employed with the Telluride Power Plant. In 1919 they moved to Provo, and her husband became a partner in the Anderson Garage.
Included in her hobbies were flower garden and hand work, especially making quilts.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters, Bert D. Anderson, Marvis D. Anderson and Kent D. Anderson, all of Provo; Mrs. H. Frank (Evelyn) Hancock, LaVerne, Calif., and Mrs. Glen (Blanche) Moore, Orem; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one sister and one brother, Mrs. J. W. (Kate) Hoover, Provo, and Lyman Duke, Heber.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel of Provo, Max D. Zabriskie, counselor of the Provo Fourth Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday prior to services.
Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
