Kenneth Ray Anderson, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family on January 4, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 81.

A quiet sensitive man, Ken was known for his tenderness, easy-going nature and love of power tools. He was known as "Papa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and "Uncle Ken" to a large extended family.

Ken was born February 9, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Raymond Stephen Tucker and Grace Louise Jacobsen. He was raised in Helper, Utah, by his mother and step-dad, Obed John Anderson, and attended local schools, graduating from LDS Seminary and Carbon High School in 1942.

At the age of 18, Ken joined the US Navy. He served in the American Theatre and the Asiatic Pacific during World War II. His tour of duty included service on the submarine USS Sea Cat. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Ken graduated from Carbon College in 1948. He completed his education at Brigham Young University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950.

Ken married Julia Taylor on July 28, 1949 in the Manti Temple.

He was employed by Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company in Ironton, Utah, retiring after 38 years of service.

Ken enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, travel and puttering. He was especially proud of his basement woodworking shop.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and member of the High Priest Group in the Bonneville 5th Ward and Cove Point Branch.

Ken is survived by his wife, Julia, two daughters, two sons, three sisters, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
