Lloyd L. Ballard, born December 26, 1913 in Bedias, TX to Logan and Julia Ballard, passed away April 27, 2004 in New Braunfels, TX. He graduated from high school in Bedias, TX. He studied law at Houston Law School as well as La Salle Extension University. He was a 1938 candidate for county clerk in Grimes County. In 1941, he was employed by the Washington D.C. civil service with the Maritime service training organization and war shipping administration until 1945. He was also employed by the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi and he retired after 23 years from Kelly Air Force Base as an Inventory Management Specialist in July of 1970 where he received many accommodations and awards. Mr. Ballard was a candidate for State Representative in 1974. He also helped Representative Frank Tejeda as his legislative aid at the beginning of his very successful political career. He served as a bowling league secretary for 21 consecutive years as well as being the first secretary to form a league at Southside bowling lanes. He served six years on the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Bowling Association. He was also active in the church belonging to many organizations. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elenore Ballard in 2002 and a daughter, JoAnn Ballard Mitchell. Survivors include his sons, Gerald L. Ballard, Stephen A. Ballard and wife Renae; brother, Pleas Ballard and wife Joyce; grandchildren, Pamela Kitzel and husband Donald, Angela, Elizabeth, Ronnie, Lauren, Craig; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
