Carleton H. Chase, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Greenbriar Terrace in Nashua.

He was born on Dec. 29, 1918, in Dover, a son of the late Hebert and Katherine (Tibbets) Chase.

Carleton was a veteran of World War II, having served his country in the U.S. Army. He was also a lifetime member of both the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Grange.

He was predeceased by his wife, Frances (Hallam) Chase, who died in 1981.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephan and Marianne Chase of Ellington, Conn.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and George Prout of Bridgewater, Conn., Becky and John Connary of Nashua, and Barbara and David Miller of Bonney Lake, Wash.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Muriel Kneckt of Barrington.

Funeral service will be private. Interment will be later in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick, Maine.
