Betty Jean "BJ" Geigley, 72, of Mount Joy, died peacefully Tuesday January 17, 2012 at Masonic Village Health Care Center, Elizabethtown. "BJ" as she was known to most of her friends, and "Betz" to her family, was the wife of Arthur G. Geigley, and they celebrated 33 years of marriage this past August. Born in Mount Joy she was the daughter of the late Abram H. and Kathryn (Sherk) Mumma. "BJ" was a research technician for Armstrong World Industries of Lancaster for 37 years before retiring in 1994. She was a graduate of Donegal High School, class of 1957. "BJ" was a faithful and active, 50-year member of Chiques United Methodist Church of Mount Joy, where she served as a Sunday school teacher to many young children, and was a member of the adult choir. She was a member of the "Elderberries" senior group, and "BJ" and her husband Art were named "Elderberries of the Year" for their service to the church and community. She was also a member of the former Business Professional Women of Mount Joy. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to various regions of the United States, and was an avid collector of dolls and Noah's Ark memorabilia. In her spare time "BJ" enjoyed knitting.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter Linda Mummaw of York; a son Faron husband of Anita Geigley of Spartanburg, SC; a granddaughter Kathleen; and a sister Linda Alexander of Quarryville. She was preceded in death by a sister Mabel Stark.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at Chiques United Methodist Church, 1215 East Main St. Mount Joy PA on Saturday January 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Interment in Henry Eberle Cemetery will be private. There will be a time of visitation with the family immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers contributions in "BJ's" memory may be sent to Chiques United Methodist Church, 1215 East Main St. Mount Joy PA 17552.
