Patsy L. Monroe, 66, died at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, May 31,1997, at her residence after an extended illness. Born Nov. 15,1930, in Alton, she was a daughter of the late Charles "Tommy" L. and Lottie (Hessenauer) Ontis. She was owner and operator of Pat's Beauty Shop for 10 years, retiring in 1971. She was an avid camper and traveler. She married Clinton L. "Pete" Monroe in Alton on Dec. 24, 1948. He survives. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Mike Bridgeman. of Alton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Monroe of Cherokee Village, Ark., Vernie and Susie Monroe of Godfrey and Roger Monroe of Ladue, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer, Robert Jr. and Mark Monroe, Trina and Metja Monroe, Misty,
Ashley, AmberSue and Britany Monroe, Schelley Burger, Charlotte, Carrie, Julie, and
Michael Bridgeman; three grandchildren, Aspen Burger, Seth Mahan and Caitlyn Bridgeman; a sister, MaryAnn Cochran of Denver, Colo.; three brothers and sisters- in-law, Dale and JoAnn
Ontis of Alton, Bob and Delia Ontis of Greensboro, N.C. and John Ontis of Alton.
A granddaughter, Jessica Monroe, and a very special aunt, Erma Porter, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton, where
services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Scott McElyea.
Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Hospice
