Virginia was born on January 8, 1924 to William and Lottie (Jones) Ayers in Abilene, TX. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ and enjoyed being involved in the Ladies Bible Class. She was also very active in the Christian Woman's Quilting Club and donated lots of quilts to the West Texas Rehab Center. Virginia was a long-time resident of The Oaks at Radford Hills.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Lloyd B. Newman; four sisters, Vada Klas, Ruby Golden, Addie South, and Euna Golden; and one brother, Calvin D. Ayers.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
