Alsey Russell Babb, age 79, passed away Sat, Nov 28, at Baptist Medical Center. He was born Aug 27, 1902 at Ross TX, McClelland Co. The son of William August Babb and Bertha Ella Russell Babb. He was converted at age 9 and joined the Baptist Church and was baptized a year later at age 10. He was ordained a deacon of the Sentinel Oklahoma Baptist Church in 1945. He was active as Sunday School teach and Sunday School Superintendent in each of his various residences until he lost his health and was unable to be active.

He graduated from Panhandle College High School Department in 1921. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1931 and a Master of School Administration Degree from Oklahoma University in 1940. He had 51 years experience in Oklahoma Education as an elementary teacher, school Superintendent and College professor. His greatest satisfaction was in seeing the thousands of young people whom he taught, learn, mature, and take their places in all walks of life and become successful adults. He was Superintendent of Schools for 47 years of his 51 year career in the following schools:
Bessie, Merritt, Asher, McCloud, Sentinel, Seiling, and Harrah, OK.

He was president of the Central District O E A in 1962-63, served as president of numerous Lyons and Rotary Clubs, and served as the Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in Sentinel. The elementary school built in Harrah in 1962 is named Russell Babb Elementary in his honor. He was listed in the eleventh edition of Educators in the South and Southwest Who's Who. He has been honored at numerous school alumni reunions and the McLoud reunion held July 2, 1977 was dedicated to him.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kate Ellen Johnson Babb; sons, Russell L Babb of Stillwater; Donald W Babb of Oklahoma City; James R Babb of Oklahoma City; four grandsons, (names omitted); two granddaughters (names omitted); three great grandsons and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Frank. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs Virgil Teague (Thelma) of Littlefield, TX; and Mrs Clarence King (Elsie) of Sentinel, OK.

His funeral is at 11 am Wednesday, Dec 1, in the Britton Baptist Church of OKC, officiating are the Reverends Karl Harmond and Henery M Riek.
