Ruth J.A. Hoffman, 93, Hustontown, died Saturday, September 2, 2006, at her niece's home in Waterfall. Born in Taylor Township, Fulton County, May 22, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Ida (Shaw) Barnett.

She worked for H.J. Heinz Co. and Knouse Foods, both of Chambersburg, for 36 seasons before retiring in 1974.

She was the widow of Fred C. Hoffman, who preceded her in death on May 24, 2000. They were married April 24, 1944 in Saltillo.

She attended Mt. Tabor Church of the Nazarene in Waterfall.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, baking, gardening and visiting friends in 13 nursing homes and three personal care homes.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Zola King and Althea Hoffman; a brother, Clarence Barnett, and a brother-in-law, Edgar Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, at 2:00 p.m., with one hour of visitation before the service on Friday, September 8. Rev. Richard Vandervolt, Pastor Duane Williams and Pastor Dan Porterfield will officiate. Burial will be made in Hartmans Chapel Cemetery, Hustontown. There will be visitation on Thursday, September 7, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg.
