He was born September 20, 1948 in Berrien Springs, Michigan, the son of Wilber L. Copper, Sr. and Betty (Euler) Copper. He had lived in the La Porte area, for most of his life.
Wilber worked as a crane operator for Dodge Reliant of Mishawaka. He was a member of First Apostolic Church. Wilber enjoyed collecting trains, going fishing, telling jokes and visiting Wal-Mart. He took great pride in his grapes.
On July 3, 1971 in La Porte, IN., he married Vernia (Mohler) Copper, who preceded him in death on November 8, 2000.
On October 27, 2011, in La Porte, IN, he married Linda (Long) Copper who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter - Julie (Robert Harmon) Copper of La Porte, IN; step-daughter - Rebecca (James) Hand of Lake Station, IN; step-son - Phillip (Renee') Long of Thorntown, IN; four step grandsons, and one step-granddaughter.
Wilber was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Vernia Copper, son, James Copper, sister, Ruth Moyar, brother, George Copper, two half-sisters, Hazel Huber, Violet Beason, and one half-brother, Alfred Copper.
Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 12:00 pm, until time of services. A Celebration of Life will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday January 19, 2012 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Richard Hoffman, and Pastor Tony Fields officiating. Interment will follow at the Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, Indiana.
