WATERBORO – Ruth E. Beal, 87, of Pearl Street, died at home Sunday following several months of declining health.
She was born February 6, 1909, in West Newfield, a daughter of Loring and Ida Guilford Tarbox, and graduated in 1925 from Ethan Stone High School, Newfield.
In 1927 she married and was a homemaker all her life. From 1930 to 1945 Mrs. Beal also helped operate Beal's General Store in Newfield.
She was a life member of Day Spring Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Newfield.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Arthur W. Beal, in 1989, and a son, Lawrence in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Buck of Waterboro, with whom she made her home; two sons, Maurice of Falmouth and A. Peter of North Waterboro; a sister, Katherine Carlton of West Newfield; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
