SOUTH WATERBORO – Arthur W. Beal, 87, of Pearl Street, died suddenly on Saturday at his home.

He was born in North Shapleigh on June 22, 1902, a son of Maurice and Mabel Noyes Beal. He had been a self-employed contractor for many years.

He was the husband of the former Ruth Tarbox. They had lived for many years in West Newfield and moved to South Waterboro two years ago.

He was a member of the Day Spring Chapter of Masons of West Newfield.

Besides his wife of 62 years, he is survived by a daughter, Beverly Buck of South Waterboro; three sons, Lawrence "Bud" of Newfield, Maurice of Falmouth and A. Peter of North Waterboro; a sister, Edna Meader of North Berwick; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dockendorff Funeral Home, Limerick, with the Rev. Linda Huff of the United Church of Christ officiating.

Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Parsonsfield.
