Godfrey Letcher, 92 year-old area resident nearly all of his life died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William (Laura) McGowan in Pine Island. He had lived there the last two years.
Mr. Letcher was born in Monroe, Wisconsin, April 15, 1858 to Johannes Loetscher (Letcher) and Elizabeth Germann Letcher. The family moved to Berne, Minnesota where he lived until he married the former Addie Ames in 1884. They always lived in this area, she died in 1948.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Wm (Laura) McGowan and Mrs. Hiram (Lucy) McGowan both of Pine Island, Mrs. Libbie Munson of Rochester and Mrs. Hugo (Emma)Brehmer of Minneapolis, 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Methodist Church in Pine Island. Rev. Elverado Cox will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Island Cemetery.
