Reverend John Benson married Karin Benson. Their first daughter Jennie married Frank Nyren in 1896. [Their 8 daughters included the 4th, Hazel.]
Hazel, Mrs. John Henry Barry, was a secretary and married John Henry Barry, a miner, who was killed in Homer Mine. She later married Joe DeCloux, also a miner. Her son, James Barry, is a farmer and miner, who married Naomi Robinson. They are active in indoor and outdoor sports, 4-H leaders, and are in Conservation. They have three children, Gloria, Mrs. George Nantelle, who is in optics for Dr. R.K. Atanasoff in Iron River (George is a truck driver); John, who works at Coleman Plant and is married to Roxanne Beyers, a cook at Community Hospital, Crystal Falls; and David, a Trade School graduate for Heavy Equipment Repair, now manager of Deep Rock Station in Iron River.

The clubs were first organized in connection with the schools and the teachers served as leaders. When the schools closed, the meetings were held in leaders' homes or at Beechwood Community Hall. Some of the leaders past and present included Mr. and Mrs. James Barry. All clubs were very active, and many members were outstanding achievers.

Leaving the [Hazel] section house, my father [Frank Nyren] and uncle Gust Anderson bought up much of the wilderness from Beechwood, including where my son Jim Barry lives.
Victor Bloomquist succeeded Gust Johnson as Sunday School Superintendent of Beechwood Church, and picked up our family through two generations; first me, and then my children, Grace and Jimmy Barry.
