Pauline Elizabeth (Molstedt) Taft, formerly of West Chester

Pauline Taft, formerly of West Chester, Yarmouth, Maine and Half Moon Bay, Antigua, died on January 11, 2012.

She is survived by her son, Allen Taft of Markham, Va.; daughters, Sharon Quarles of Bethesda, Md. and Deborah Megless of Warrenton, Va.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pauline was married for 64 years to Waterman Allen "Bud" Taft, who died in 2006 and was preceded in death by her brother Byron Molstedt.

Born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, "Polly" moved to New York City in 1941 where she worked as a legal secretary. She met and married Allen in 1942, and commenced to build a family. During Allen's 37 year career as a chemical engineer with DuPont, she moved countless times and created a home in every location. When Bud retired in 1971 she moved from Fair Meadow Farm in Chester County, Pennsylvania to Cousins Island, Maine, and later built Little Cove in Antigua. A devoted wife and mother, Polly learned to land her husband's plane, pilot a boat, but most importantly built a family spanning three generations that loved her.

She will be reunited with Allen in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts in a private ceremony.

Memorial contributions may be made in Pauline's name to the National Stroke Association, 9707 E. Easter Lane, Centennial, CO, 80112.
