A Good Lady Gone to Her Reward
Mrs. Margret Boggs died at her family home, Just south of St James last Thursday, April 23, 1908, aged 61 years, 9 months and 16 days. Her illness dates back over a year, but did not become serious until six weeks previous to her death. From that time on she slowly but surely gave evidence of the approaching end. The cause of her death was cancer.

The deceased's maiden name was Margret Coppedge. She was the daughter of Geo. Coppedge, an early settler of Maries county, and was born and raised on the old Coppedge farm, five miles north of St. James, now known as the Laihr place. She was born July 7th, 1846, and on October, 1882, was married in St. James to James Boggs. To this union were born three children - one son and two daughters. One daughter, Etta preceded the mother to the land from which no traveler ever returns. John and Betty survive their loving mother. The husband died February, 1904, at an advanced age.

She was not a member of any church, but her friends testify to her Christian character. Her devotion as wife and mother; her kindness to everybody, will long linger as a fragrant memory in the house which her presence brightened and which death has now darkened.

Vain in any attempt to measure the loss of a mother to her children. After all the poets have sung and lovers dreamed, outside of heaven there is no love like mother-love We believe the tender care devoted to them nearest and dearest, went with her to the better land, and in the possibilities of eternity may be needed hereafter.

Besides her two children, the following step-children survive her. Three step-sons, Wrn Boggs, of Laclede county, and Harrison and Sherman Boggs, of St. Louis. Three step-daughters. Mrs. Nat Wolters, of Kansas; Mrs. D.J. Matlock, of Oklahoma, and Mrs. John Marcum of Washington. Also two sisters: Mrs. Jane Harrison of High Gate, and Mrs. Nancy McQueen of near Zion Hill.

The funeral services were conducted from the Late home of the deceased Saturday forenoon. Rev. J.W. How, of the Methodist church, conducted the services Internment in the Masonic cemetery. The bereaved children, who will so sadly miss their mother, the sincere sympathy of the entire community Is extended.
