Russell D. Ackiss, Sr., 58, of Building 7, Apartment 67, MacArthur Drive, husband of Mrs. Eva Dudley Ackiss and son of Claude D. and Mrs. Etta Bruce Ackiss, died in a Norfolk hospital Sunday at 6:15 a.m.
A native of Creeds, he lived in this area all his life. He was employed by Sunshine Biscuit Co. 39 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Margie A. Lemieux, Mrs. Shirley A. Keech and Mrs. Lucille A. Myers of Norfolk; two sons, Alvin Lee Ackiss and Russell D. Ackiss Jr. of Norfolk; five sisters, Mrs. Annie Johnana of New York City, Mrs. Amy Clinkscales of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of Norfolk, Mrs. Virgie Waterfield of Knotts Island, N.C., and Mrs. Lillie Whitehurst of Back Bay, Virginia Beach; three brothers, Millard W. Ackiss and Melvin Ackiss of Norfolk and Willie Ackiss of Portsmouth; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
