Lois Aycock Burchfield, age 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died peacefully at home on Saturday, January 14, 2012.
Born August 20, 1924, in Spartanburg, SC, daughter of John Hilliard Aycock (1877-1957) and Rosalie (Cantrell) Aycock (1882-1969); wife of Robert Richard Burchfield (1921-1977).
A graduate of Fairforest High School and Cecil's Business College, retired from McClurkin-Blalock and Associates, was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church since June 1959, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class, taught and worked with 3- and 4-year-olds in Sunday School and the nursery for many years, and was a loved and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survived by one beloved daughter, Myra Hendrix (Michael); two beloved grandsons; one beloved great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by five sisters, Myrtle Aycock Lussardi (1901–1997), Mornie Gertrude Aycock (1906-), Lila Ruth Aycock Horton Hall (1908-1993), Pervis Aycock Turner (1911-1961), and Martha Erin Aycock (1918-1920); three brothers, William Lethco Aycock (1903-1977), John Charles Aycock (1914-1972), and Joseph Haskell Aycock (1916-1990); and many dear friends.
Funeral services were at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Fernwood Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dean Allen, Rev. Dr. Lisa Allen, Rev. Dr. P. Randall Wright, and her nephew, Dr. Aaron W. Turner; burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
