CONGREGATION PRESIDENT TAKEN BY DEATH
"Henry Irvin Bucher, Jr., assistant elevator starter at Charity Hospital, died at his home at 07 Robert st. at 11:15 a.m. Sunday after a brief illness.

"Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m Tuesday from the Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Inc. funeral home at 4127 S. Claborne ave. Religious services will be conducted at Salem United Church of Christ at 4212 Camp, with the Rev. R. F. Buck officiatinng.

"Interment will be in Lafayette Cemetery no. 2.

"Mr. Bucher, 63, a native of New Orleans, was educated in public schools here and for many years was self-employed in the dry cleaning and laundry business.

"He was a member of Orleans Lodge No. 397, Free & Accepted Masons; a member of the Grand Consistory of Louisiana, and was president of the congtregation at Salem United Church of Christ.

"Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Estelle Templet Bucher; two sons, Sgt. Irvin L. Bucher, USMC (Ret.), and Dennis Phillip Bucher, Jackson, Miss.; four sisters, Mrs. Lee Freman of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. George Springer, Mrs. Myrtle LaSavia and Mrs. George Soniat DuFossat, all of New Orleans; four brother, Adolph, William, George and Alex Bucher, also all of New Orleans, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson."
