Ed was the son of Leonard Ziglar and Mary Lacy Crouse and the husband of Lillie Lineback whom he married April 28, 1904.

He was a policeman for the town of Mayodan when he died of a gun shot wound. His death was a homicide.

He was brought back to Winston-Salem and interred in Woodland Cemetery April 16, 1922.
