She was a homemaker and owned her own beauty shop in Ysleta Texas. She was a member of the A.E. Shirley No. 986 OES in Amarillo and Ysleta No. 991 OES. She was a charter memeber of the First Baptist Church in Fabens, Texas. And former members of Clint and Ysleta Baptist Churches in the Lower El Paso Valley. Bertie was an active member at Paramount Baptist and spent many hours volunteering and teaching Sunday School in all churches she attended.
